Onion bhajis



Onion bhajis

These mini onion bhajis are quick to make and such a treat fresh from the pan. Try them as a snack or alongside a curry. Any extras can be frozen and reheated in the oven.




  • vegetable oil, for deep frying
  • 2 red onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 tbsp chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • ½ tsp chilli powder
  • ½ tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tsp ground coriander
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 100g/3½oz gram (chickpea) flour
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 15g/½oz fresh root ginger, peeled and finely grated
  • salt
