Babes Wodumo – It’s been different without my Mampintsha

Gqom Queen Babes Wodumo has announced the return of ‘Uthando Lodumo’.

The ‘Wololo’ hitmaker starred in the first two seasons of the Showmax reality show alongside her now-late husband, Mampintsha.

The show followed the highs and lows of the couple’s music career and relationship. Mandla ‘Mampintsha’ Maphumulo passed away on Christmas Eve after suffering a stroke in December 2022.

Babes Wodumo, whose real name is Bongekile Simelani, says season three of the show will be packed with “more drama”.

“A lot about how my life has been after the passing of my husband, my struggles and challenges of being a single mom having to wear my queen crown with pride and finding my feet,” she told Cooking365 in a Q&A.

Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha welcomed their first child together in 2021. The musicians named their son Nhlanhla Hlelolenkosi Maphumulo.

Fans also know him by his nickname ‘Sponge’. He celebrated his first birthday without his father a few months ago.

Nhlanhla turned two on June 16. Babes Wodumo admitted having “mixed emotions” on the day.

“It’s your birthday today. A part of me misses ubaba wakho cause I know for sure this day was his favourite day. It was special even though you share the same birthday month but on this day both our lives changed forever. We’re now parents to a precious boy,” she wrote on Instagram.

“This day is a joyous day cause it reminds me that I became a mom but also emotional cause you won’t hear your dad wish you a happy birthday again.”

Life without Mampintsha has been challenging for Babes Wodumo, but she is learning to make decisions – especially when it comes to her career – without her late husband.

Fans can also look forward to new music from the star. Babes Wodumo has an album coming out in November. She also plans to release the album Mampintsha was working on before his death next year.
