Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies striker Miche Minnies has responded to comparisons to former Brazil and FC Barcelona midfielder Ronaldinho, laughing off claims he’s her father.

During the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifiers in Durban a photo of the 21-year-old trended on social media with people likening her to Ronaldinho in looks and some their style of play.

Minnies spoke to Cooking365 writer Lethabo Kganyago in the current edition of the newspaper, where she said she doesn’t think they look alike and the Brazilian is definitely not her father.

The former Vasco Da Gama Ladies player says she and her father also had a good laugh about this matter.

“You are making me laugh now. I remember it was all over social media and I was like ‘me and this guy, we don’t look the same’ and people were like ‘no, you look alike’,” Minnies told Cooking365

“But what I can say is that sometimes God works in a mysterious way. So you don’t know maybe I can get something out of him and he can maybe boost me to get me things like a team, you understand, but he is not my father (laughs).

“But I’d love to meet him in person because he was a very good player. I like the reference of the playing thing, it is fine you can speak about that, but the other things, no.

“He [my father] was like, ‘No, that is my child! How can they say that she’s Ronaldinho’s child? Ja, and some people told me, ‘don’t take it like personally and seriously because it’s just talk’.

“I mean you know how social media can be. I don’t have a problem with it”
