7 food recipes to light up your New Year’s Eve celebration

No party is complete without starters and what’s better than bite-sized finger foods? Scrumptious starters indeed kickstart the party and give a tasty commencement to the event.

These yummy snacks will also be a great accompaniment to all types of mocktails and cocktails. Do include these finger foods in your New Year’s Eve party menu and impress your guests with the best of snacks.

1. Cheese Balls

With melting cheese on the inside and crispy coating on the outside, Cheese Balls is a party-favourite snack. It is prepared using mashed potatoes, which are stuffed with cheese cubes and then given the shape of a ball. These balls are coated in a cornflour slurry and dusted with breadcrumbs. After frying until crispy in texture and golden brown in colour, Cheese Balls are best served immediately to get that amazing cheese pull.

Chicken Wings is an ideal starter for all non-veg lovers. To make the dish, chicken wings are first coated in a batter made using refined flour, garlic, chilli powder, oregano, black pepper powder and salt. Coated wings are then deep-fried in oil until crispy. Alternatively, wings can also be baked in the oven. Crispy fried Chicken Wings paired with hot sauce or garlic mayonnaise is a wholesome combo in itself.

3. Onion Rings

To make onion rings, firstly make a batter for coating. Mix refined flour, milk, eggs, garlic powder, black pepper powder and salt. Add water as per need and whisk to make a batter of medium consistency. Next, cut the onion into rings and dip the rings in this batter. Coat the rings with breadcrumbs and directly drop them in hot oil. Fry until golden brown in colour and serve with a dip of your choice.

4. Pizza Pinwheels

Pizza Pinwheels are basically Pizza in a single bite. Packed with flavours of pizza, pinwheels are a delicious finger food that is super easy to make as well. To make pinwheels, first a dough using refined flour, salt and milk is kneaded. Next, small balls of dough are rolled out into strips of 1-2 inch width. Now all you need to do is spread pizza sauce on the strips, add finely chopped veggies of your choice and roll them into pinwheels. Place all the pinwheels on a baking tray, add cheese on top and bake in an oven for 12-15 minutes.

5. Egg Bruschetta

Want to quickly put up a snack without much efforts? Scramble some eggs in a pan to make a bhurji. Season with salt, black pepper powder and chilli flakes. Now cut 8-10 slices of sourdough and toast them slightly. Divide the scrambled eggs equally on all the sourdough slices. For toppings, add cherry tomatoes and spring onions. You can also add some basil leaves on top for a fresh flavour. Your Egg Bruschetta is now ready to be served.

Charcuterie Board is a food trend that gained a lot of popularity in the year 2022, so why not bid farewell to the year by including it on the New Year’s Eve party menu! A charcuterie board is an appetizer typically served on a wooden board or stone slab which is eaten straight from the board itself. Charcuterie Board is best suited for parties and gatherings. The most important food items that must make it to a Charcuterie Board are Cured Meats, different types of Cheese, Olives, Nuts, Fruits, Dried Fruits, Crackers or small slices of Bread and Jelly or Jam.

7. ​Mozzarella SticksMozzarella Sticks is a foolproof recipe that is so easy to make and will be loved by people of all age groups, be it kids or adults. To make it, firstly Mozzarella cheese is first cut into sticks. Sticks are then dipped in whisked eggs and then coated in breadcrumbs. Sticks are then coated again in eggs and again coated in breadcrumbs. This ensures a thick coating on the cheese sticks. Now, all that needs to be done is frying. Once the sticks turn golden brown in colour, they are ready to be served.
